Stop the Violence

Sister in habbit & husband assaulted during Pink Saturday. Police seek witnesses - photographs - video. During Pink Saturday a Sister in white face and habbit who was working the event on behalf of the community, and her husband, were physically and verbally assaulted by a group of up to seven people at the intersection of Castro Street & 18th Street. Both received some injuries and are naturally very shaken by the whole incident, but fortunately neither required hospitalization. If you witnessed this incident, or if you have photographs or video of the incident, please contact Mission Police Station. We want to work with investigators to assist them in identifying the suspects and bringing them to justice. MISSION POLICE STATION: 630 Valencia St. San Francisco, CA 94110 (415) 558-5400 Email: Non-emergency, dial: (415) 553-0123 TIP LINE: (415) 552-4558

Ray and I volunteered for the gate at the Pink Saturday event. People were showing up at the gates already clearly intoxicated. The security detail that was supposed to scan and control the inflow of people did a horrible job so that at our gate, people pushed through without scanning at all faster than chocolates came at Lucy and Ethel on the conveyor belt, setting off my anxiety pretty badly. When our shift was over we got the hell out of there, but apparently later in the night the sister working with us, and her partner, were assaulted by up to seven people, and I am incredibly pissed off about this. They were doing what was necessary to help everyone have a party. You do not beat up the people who make things possible and safe for everyone. I hope all seven are found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is gay Pride, not assault gay people day. What the fuck makes this happen?
